Fujiyoshi-san, the proprietor of Rhythm, admits that when he moved into this second floor hideaway tucked along a backstreet of Ropponmatsu, a burger shop wasn’t exactly what he had in mind. But seeing as the shop came pre-decorated with an American West touch, he decided to let destiny have its way. After much experimentation and research, including trips to Sasebo, Kyushu’s burger mecca, the Deka Burger was born. Offered in three sizes, Big (200g), Huge (400g,) and Enormous (800g), this mouth-watering burger starts with a hefty patty of beef and pork, topped with lettuce, tomato, and onion, sandwiched in a homemade bun smeared with mayonnaise and ketchup. The result is a juicy, well put-together burger that isn’t sloppy despite its size-a pleasure to sink your teeth into. Prefer your burgers with more pizzazz? Try the Cheese, Teriyaki & Egg, or Salsa variations. Even non-beef eaters can chow down on a Teriyaki or Mustard Chicken Burger. And for vegetariansﾉmaybe it’s best you stay home. “Yo! What’s that on the counter?” Oh, that’s their three-meter long homemade sausage. Don’t worry, it won’t bite! Meat eaters, meet your match! The “Counter Sausage” available in either pepper or curry flavor, requires one day prior notice-and six friends to help eat it! Open from lunch through to dinner and into the wee hours of the morning, Rhythm is a godsend for those who miss monster burgers from back home. To quench your thirst, fresh fruit cocktails, regular cocktails, “healthy drinks”, soft drinks, and a variety of beers are available.
