It was Canada Day, Eh?
A big thanks to the 400 people who packed into Sam & Dave for the annual Canada Day bash. Trivia quiz winners walked away with some pretty cool prizes, including three brand new iPods courtesy of Neo Platinum Card. Wedding Announcement
Congratulations to George (born in Peru, raised in Florida) and Saori (Japanese) who first met at a Hawaiian party in June of 2005. Their next date included a star-lit stroll along the Momochi seashore. They were married on July 14 and enjoyed a honeymoon on the beaches of Phuket.
Mitsubachi – Opening Party
On July 19, reportedly over 1,500 crammed into and out of Mitsubachi (Honeycomb), a brand new stylish dinning bar as they celebrated their grand opening with none other than French DJ Stephane Pompougnac, (Hotel Costes.) Located on the first floor of the recently opened “5th Hotel” in Haruyoshi, next door to Hotel Il Palazzo, Mitsubachi has a stunning view of Naka River and the yatai stalls lining it, Canal City and the glowing neon of Nakasu. It sure opened with a bang, but apparently weekday evenings will be more mellow. Should be a choice place to chill with a cool drink and their tasty “European Ethnic” dishes. Tel: 092-739-3800
Governor Eyes the iPhone
Douglas Weber, one of the original members of Apple’s iPod hardware design team, showed off his iPhone at a recent FIBA (Fukuoka International Business Association) meeting. The iPhone isn’t available in Asia yet, but it still created a big stir with it’s amazing touch panel screen. Pictured here is Fukuoka Governor Wataru Aso, Masaharu Okada (Kyushu University), and Douglas Weber as they take the iPhone for a spin. Douglas, is still working full-time with Apple, shuffling between California, Fukuoka, and China where he overseas production of iPod and iPhone hardware.
