Pub Morris takes its name from two British style icons (inescapable wallpaper designer William Morris, and wood-fixtured mini-van the Morris Mini Minor) and with these as inspiration it does a remarkable job of recreating the feel of a British Pub on the seventh floor of a nondescript concrete block in Daimyo. Although British classics like Fish & Chips (¥550, pictured) and Old Speckled Hen (¥850 pint) top the bill, the drinks menu and the crowd alike are surprisingly international, and Morris is one of the easiest places in town to strike up conversation with Japanese people, old-hand foreigners or visitors from anywhere you can imagine. Morris attracts a reliable after-work pub food crowd (Happy Hour is 17:00 ~ 19:00) and it’s also a popular prelude to a night on the club scene, so even if you’re just in for a swift half-pint it’s easy to find yourself caught up in a spontaneous multi-national posse. And with wireless internet and a computer for free customer use, Morris is definitely a networking hotspot. All the same Morris boasts plenty of space and a variety of seating, including a patio with a great Daimyo view, so it’s easy to get yourself a corner with some close friends, get a round in and take in the warm decor and Brit-inspired soundtrack.
