Italian Taste and Attitude

Clearly much of owner chef Takeomi Yoshiyama four years in Italy was spent in kitchens learning the secrets of Italian cuisine, but as he’s proud to point out, fancy ingredients and flavors alone don’t make a great restaurant. At his Vineria e Trattoria on Fukuoka’s fashionable Keyaki-dori, service, communication, and mood are as equally important as taste. Not to understate the quality of the food, as everything we tried was buono, but here it’s the total experience including perhaps a chat or even debate with Yoshiyama and staff that distinguishes Perche No! from the many other Italian eateries. Order la carte, or select dishes from the prix fixe JPY3,800 and JPY4,800 courses. After a visit or two you may want to challenge Yoshiyama and staff with off-menu orders, which are welcomed. As many customers become regular patrons, reservations are required on weekends. Though once seated, you’ll never be rushed.
