Long-time mentaiko maker Fukutaro has opened a kaku-uchi (standing bar) in Tenjin. Inside the spacious bar, you can stand at the bar counter or high tables, but there is also izakaya-style seating if you’d rather sit. The menu includes local favorites like game-ni simmered veggies and rolled omelet with mentaiko, and a wide selection of alcohol is available at reasonable prices. A French chef works in the kitchen, so you can enjoy French foods like pate de campagne, but he also adds his unique touch to local dishes like goma saba (mackerel sashimi with sesame).
