Fukuoka City Hospital to Explore New Locations

A municipal advisory council has concluded that Fukuoka City Hospital, plagued by aging infrastructure, cannot be feasibly renovated or expanded at its current location in Hakata Ward. The council’s interim report suggests that to meet future medical needs, a significant increase in floor space is necessary, leading to the decision to explore relocation options. The difficulties associated with renovation or expansion—such as prolonged disruption to medical services and high costs—have prompted the search for a new site, with the selection process expected to conclude by the end of March next year. Having served the community since its opening in 1989, the hospital faces challenges such as deterioration and a lack of space due to increasing departments. Source: NHK
