In response to the detection of Classical Swine Fever (CSF) in wild boars in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, Fukuoka Prefecture held an emergency meeting to reinforce biosecurity measures. About 30 officials from the prefectural agriculture and livestock departments attended. The infection, confirmed on May 30 and June 3, marks the first case in Kyushu. While no abnormalities have been reported in Fukuoka’s pig farms, authorities are urging thorough disinfection and prevention of wildlife intrusion. The prefecture is also considering oral vaccines for wild boars and aims to provide accurate information to prevent misinformation. Source: NHK
