High-Speed Ferry Between Tsushima and Busan Resumes After Three-Year Hiatus

The high-speed ferry service between Tsushima City in Nagasaki Prefecture and Busan, South Korea, resumed on the 25th after a three-year suspension. A Korean woman who works for a travel company expressed joy at being able to visit Tsushima again. The first ferry arrived at the Hitakatsu Port 20 minutes later than scheduled, carrying 95 passengers, with 99 passengers on the second ferry. The service will initially operate on weekends only, with a limit of 100 passengers per ship. In 2018, a record high of about 410,000 Koreans entered Japan through the ferry service, contributing to the island’s economy. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused inbound consumption to evaporate.
