Hojoya Festival Returns to Full Swing

The Hojoya Festival, one of Hakata’s three major festivals signaling the arrival of autumn, commenced on the 12th in the Higashi Ward of Fukuoka City. For the first time in four years, the festival is operating without restrictions, marking a return to normalcy. Despite previous restrictions on vendor operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year approximately 500 stalls are lined up along the approach to the shrine, offering items like fresh ginger. The Hojoya Festival is expected to run until the 18th of this month, attracting an estimated one million visitors over its duration. Check out our video from the first day and evening here.
