LINE Fukuoka announced free use of their source code to support the management of reservations for the new coronavirus vaccinations. Beginning in February, registered local governments for the ‘LINE Smart City GovTech Program’ can use the program, which allows residents(*) to check the availability, select date and time for vaccination bookings, and receive confirmation messages. The system is expected to save a considerable volume of each local government’s workload and can be combined with a telephone-based booking procedure, too. About one hundred municipalities, including some in Fukuoka Prefecture, decided to introduce the program. (*To use the system, residents are required to ‘Friend’ with official accounts of the local governments.) Source: Nikkei / TNC / LINE Fukuoka
