The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, in addition to the education and agriculture ministries, have certified a Saga City program for restoring historical buildings and conducting activities related to traditional culture. That certification means the city can receive financial assistance from the central government for restoration and for training personnel. It is the third such certification granted to a city in Kyushu, after Yamaga in Kumamoto Prefecture and Dazaifu in Fukuoka Prefecture.
