Nagasaki City and Nagasaki Electric Tramway will embark on a model green project in which turf will be planted between parallel streetcar tracks operating in the city. The objectives are to ameliorate the heat island effect and improve the urban scenery. After conducting a trial and surveys in a model district, they plan to create a green belt on the streetcar line, focusing on the areas with a high number of passengers.
