The game of Karuta is said to have originated in Fukuoka, but has since spread all over Japan, and is typically played over the New Year period. This event celebrates the game, with an accompanying exhibition on the popular manga, Chihayaburu. There will also be an exhibition of unique Hakata Karuta art, calligraphy performance, original drawings of the Karuta themed manga “Chihayafuru” and more! Go visit and enjoy the showa atmosphere through karuta!
