The pianist Martha Argerich will hold the music festival Argerich’s Meeting Point in Beppu throughout the month of May. Performances include a concert by the Young Musicians of Oita Prefecture, a cello recital by Mischa Maisky, and a piano recital by Ichiro Higuchi. The main event though will be the special concert at Nogakudo by Martha herself. Also of note, on May 17, a performance will be held by the world famous conductor Ozawa Seiji.
