A community project called the Children’s Shokudo (Canteen) will be held once a month on Oyafukudori with the support of the local neighborhood association. The project will be run in cooperation with the organizers of a similar Kurume-based project, and will see participants help pick up trash off the streets. Those involved in the clean-up will then be treated to a free curry, which will be served on the north side of Nagahama Park. Despite the name, the event is not just for children, but instead aims to bring together different sections of society, including senior citizens and the international community.
