Atago Shrine Fire Festival
Atago Shrine holds this festival for visitors to purify their bodies and ward off misfortune. Write a wish on a gomagi (wooden stick, ¥500), throw it into the bonfire, and then walk barefoot across burning coals. This festival is the start of the shrine’s New Year celebrations and all are invited to participate!
