No New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Fukuoka – Red Cross Appeals for Blood Donors

On May 3, Fukuoka Prefecture announced no new cases of COVID-19 infection for the first time over 39 days. While daily infections in the prefecture have been in decline for the past two weeks, local authorities stress the importance of staying alert. At the same time, the prefecture announced two more deaths linked to COVID-19, bringing the cumulative total to 24 deaths in the prefecture. Meanwhile, the Japanese Red Cross Society urges people to donate blood as it tries to deal with a shortage. Cancelations of blood bus drives and fewer visitors to its centers due to the ongoing refrain of outings had caused a shortage of blood by 490 donations in April. Story continues below…

To meet the day-to-day needs of the donated blood, the society repeatedly asks people to cooperate in their activities, including accepting blood buses. Five Blood Donation Rooms are open in Fukuoka Prefecture during the Golden Week holidays. Reservations are strongly recommended to avoid congestion.
