Filmfest Akizuki
~

A new film experience in a historic Japanese castle-town.

Filmfest Akizuki aims to highlight the special relationship between Akizuki’s history, urban planning, and architecture, by an insertion of film and art. During the three day festival, the entire town is transformed into a museum-theatre. Visitors are invited not only to view a wide range of film genres, including feature films, short films, experimental films and animation, but also to walk around the historical town while enjoying Akizuki’s famous kouyou (autumn leaves) and natural landscape.

The screening venues are carefully selected to represent the interesting mix of traditionally preserved and new-style renovation projects residing in Akizuki.
