“Viewing Ukiha Through Art” is the theme of an art event utilizing buildings in a traditional building preservation district. This event’s venue is the Kagamida Residence, a Ukiha City-designated cultural property with a history of 160 years. The exhibitors include Janine de Raemaeker from Belgium and a group of five artists residing in Fukuoka and Saga, forming the unit Studio NEXUS. Since 2015, Studio NEXUS has aimed to connect “people,” “objects,” and “events” through art. They have conducted exhibitions, workshops, and slide lectures both domestically and internationally, fostering exchanges with local artists. Through the works of Studio NEXUS and their colleagues, we hope to foster new connections.
