Fukuoka Airport to Open One of Japan’s Largest Airport Complexes

Fukuoka Airport will begin construction in April on a large-scale complex integrated with the domestic terminal, set to open in summer 2027. The 11-story facility will include commercial spaces from the 1st to 4th floors, directly connected to the terminal. With 180 new stores, the total number of shops at the airport will reach approximately 270, making it the largest retail offering at any Japanese airport. The project follows the “Traveling Airport” concept, blending Fukuoka’s local culture with international influences. The upper floors (5th to 11th) will house the Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel, providing direct airport access. Additionally, a new multi-level parking structure will be built on the south side to accommodate increasing passenger traffic. The development comes as Fukuoka Airport continues to expand, with rising passenger numbers and the recent opening of a second runway in March 2024. Source: KBC
