Nagasaki University, Miyazaki University, and Kagoshima University signed a collaboration agreement on July 9 to jointly conduct research in areas such as infectious diseases, decarbonization, and disaster resilience. The initiative is part of the Ministry of Education’s J-PEAKS program, which designated Nagasaki University as a central hub for regional academic advancement. The three universities will share expertise and infrastructure over five years, supported by a ¥5.5 billion budget. The alliance builds on Nagasaki University’s established infectious disease research base and leverages the veterinary programs at Miyazaki and Kagoshima to deepen studies in zoonotic diseases.
