Ramen Stadium in Canal City to Close Indefinitely

Ramen Stadium, the ramen-themed dining attraction at Canal City Hakata, will suspend operations indefinitely from August 31 after 23 years of business. Since opening in December 2001, it has featured 87 renowned ramen shops from across Japan through a rotating system where several shops “graduate” each year. Currently, eight shops remain in operation.

To mark its 23 years of service, a special campaign will run from August 1 to August 31. Highlights include:
• Exclusive “Super Ramen”: Limited-edition creations by each shop’s head chef.
Stamp Rally Discount: Collect stamps from three shops to receive ¥1,000 off.
Prize Draw: Visitors can enter a lottery for special prizes.

Beyond its reputation as a ramen hub, Ramen Stadium has also been a cultural hotspot. In 2011, Fukuoka Now hosted a nighttime event called “Ramen Stadium DJ Party”, attracting over 400 attendees. The event featured not only ramen tasting but also a live DJ, dancing, jugglers, dancers, and even a speed-eating contest, showcasing the venue’s versatility as an entertainment space (watch video here).
