Toyama Prefecture, Kitakyushu City, and JR West signed a cooperation agreement on August 26 in Osaka to attract inbound tourists through a “sushi golden route.” The initiative will link both regions with travel packages combining sushi chef workshops, morning market auctions, Toyama’s traditional crafts, and Kitakyushu’s night views. JR West will develop the products, aiming to spread inbound tourism beyond the Tokyo–Osaka corridor. Toyama has pursued sushi branding for two years, while Kitakyushu created a “Sushi Capital Division” this spring. Leaders from both regions emphasized using sushi as a gateway to showcase local culture worldwide. Source: NHK
