Fatburger Re-Enters Japan With Okinawa Store

U.S.-based hamburger chain Fatburger re-entered the Japanese market with a new outlet in Kadena, Okinawa, targeting demand from U.S. military personnel and foreign residents. The brand operates more than 200 stores worldwide and planned to expand to four locations in Okinawa within several years. Despite relatively high prices due to import costs and the weak yen, the opening drew strong demand. The company chose Okinawa for its concentration of U.S. bases and international visitors and positioned the store as its first step in an Asia-wide comeback. Source: Ryukyushimpo / Okinawa Times
