Nishitetsu has launched the “Nishitetsu Vegifuru Train,” a project to transport fresh local produce by rail from farms to stores. The initiative began January 20 to promote local consumption and reduce emissions. The first shipment—24 packs of Amaou strawberries from Asakura—was loaded onto a local train at Ogori Station and reached Takamiya Station in 50 minutes, then placed directly on sale at a Nishitetsu Store. Deliveries will run every Tuesday and Friday through February 20, with expansion to Kasuga City stores planned. The project highlights freshness and speed as key benefits of rail transport.
