LINE Yahoo announced on February 5 that it has signed agreements with forestry cooperatives in Fukushima and Fukuoka prefectures to carry out long-term forest management aimed at conserving and restoring water resources. The initiative targets river basins that supply water to the company’s data centers in Shirakawa and Kitakyushu, with the goal of replenishing more water through natural watershed functions than the facilities consume. Beginning in spring 2026, forest thinning and reforestation will be conducted over a 10-year period in the Abukuma and Onga river systems. The company will fund the work, while local forestry cooperatives oversee on-site management. LINE Yahoo said the program is its first initiative focused specifically on water source replenishment and is part of broader efforts to strengthen sustainable water use and ecosystem protection.
