Kyushu’s Last Lotteria Closes

The final Lotteria outlet in Kyushu closed on March 29 in Fukuoka’s Sawara Ward, ending the brand’s regional presence after decades of operation. The Fujisaki Station location drew large crowds on its last day, as customers visited to revisit personal memories tied to the restaurant. The closure follows the acquisition of Lotteria by Zensho Holdings, which has been rebranding stores nationwide as “Zetteria,” offering updated menu items and larger portions. The Fukuoka location will reopen under the new brand in mid-April. Customers and former staff reflected on their experiences, underscoring the store’s role in daily life over its 39-year history in the region. Source: TNC News / RKB News
