Uminaka Kite Festival takes place on the expansive lawn at Uminonakamichi Seaside Park. Around one million nemophila flowers blanket the hills in blue, creating a scene where sky and ground seem to merge as kites fill the air overhead.
A highlight is the “balloon kite,” including a giant whale up to 50 meters long that appears to swim across the sky. Uniquely shaped kites will also be on display, making the most of the park’s wide-open space. A kite-making workshop (¥500) is available, where children can fly their own creations on the spot.
