TOTO Invests in Semiconductor Components

TOTO announced plans to invest about JPY80 billion in its semiconductor manufacturing equipment components business over the next five years through fiscal 2030. The company will expand production capacity at facilities in Buzen, Fukuoka Prefecture, and Nakatsu, Oita Prefecture, while advancing R&D in Kanagawa focused on technologies for future 1-nanometer-class logic semiconductors. A new firing building at the Buzen plant is scheduled for completion in January 2027. Best known for sanitary ware, TOTO has seen its semiconductor-related business become a major profit driver as demand for AI chips increases. The company said additional expansion, including construction of a new factory, could be considered if market demand continues to outpace capacity. Source: Nikkei / Nishinippon Shimbun
