Fukuoka Prefecture’s minimum wage is expected to rise by 57 yen to 1,114 yen per hour on October 4. The prefectural minimum wage council submitted its recommendation on August 10. The increase is 8 yen smaller than last year’s rise but is still the second largest since the current calculation method began in 2002. Fukuoka Labor Bureau chief Kazumitsu Suzuki said the bureau would support small and midsize businesses through subsidies and measures aimed at improving productivity. The bureau also plans to monitor the effect of the increase on employment. Source: NHK Fukuoka / Nikkei
