Nerd Nite Kyushu returns on Oct. 4 with a special Halloween-themed edition at Fukuoka Haunted House near Ohori Park Station. Three guest speakers will each give a 20-minute talk on a subject they know deeply, with time between presentations for drinks, conversation and meeting fellow attendees.
Part of the international Nerd Nite network, which holds events in more than 100 cities worldwide, Nerd Nite Kyushu has been bringing its casual lecture format to Fukuoka since 2022. Topics often cover science and technology but can range widely, with past events exploring subjects such as linguistics, music, Japanese punk, Zen walking and other specialist interests.
The event aims to make learning social and accessible, combining informal academic talks with a relaxed bar atmosphere. Presentations are in English.
