Hankyu Ferry will rebuild its headquarters terminal at Shin-Moji Port in Kitakyushu and open the replacement in autumn 2028. The current terminal, designed to resemble the Daigokuden hall of ancient Heijo-kyo, has been in use since 1991 and has deteriorated with age. The company operates one daily round trip from Shin-Moji to Izumiotsu in Osaka Prefecture and another to Kobe. Its nearby second terminal will also be rebuilt, and facilities previously divided by route will be consolidated in the new headquarters terminal. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2027, while the final investment amount remains under review. The three-story building will have four large elevators but no escalators, intended to reduce luggage-related accidents.
