Fukuoka publishes online map of government reforms

Fukuoka Prefecture launched an online “reform map” on Sep. 14 to explain its efforts to overhaul prefectural government. The website sets out work on overseas activity expenses, inappropriate relations with the assembly, and the One Health initiative. Problems include staff groups subsidizing political fundraising ticket purchases and excessive hotel costs for overseas trips. Governor Seitaro Hattori expressed deep regret over an approach that had prioritized avoiding friction over making changes. The prefecture plans to update the map as its reforms progress.
