A Fukuoka municipal junior high school teacher’s lawsuit over a rejected working-conditions request had its first hearing on Oct. 6. The teacher had asked in August 2025 for measures including a guaranteed 45-minute break. The personnel committee rejected the request after he began parental leave, saying working conditions did not apply while he was away. He filed suit in July, arguing that he remained an employee and that the decision was discriminatory. The committee declined to comment on the individual case. Source: KBC News / Asahi Shimbun
