JR Kyushu May Develop Part of Old Ropponmatsu Campus

JR Kyushu is considering participating in the redevelopment of the Kyushu University Ropponmatsu Campus site and will build commercial facilities and condominiums if it wins the bid from the site’s owner, the Urban Renaissance Agency (UR). UR is looking for companies to develop two multipurpose buildings in two zones on the northern end of the site which will house the Fukuoka City Children’s Science Center and the Kyushu University Law School. JR Kyushu picked up application materials from UR on the day they were released, and the company says it plans to use experience gained from developing station buildings and from its MJR condo business to “create new vitality” in Ropponmatsu.
