Kyushu Interpreter/Guide System to be Established
The Kyushu Tourism Promotion Council and Fukuoka City have applied to establish a special district called the Kyushu Asia Tourism Island District under a national government scheme to allow the creation of such districts to promote regional vitality. One of the activities in the district will be the creation of a system for interpreter-guides specializing in Kyushu. Qualifications are required to perform this job, but there is a local shortage of people capable of interpreting for the many visitors from South Korea and China.
