JAXA’s asteroid explorer Hayabusa2 launched from the Tanegashima Space Center on 3 December 2014. The aim of the mission was to explore the Ryugu asteroid, collect samples, and deliver them back to Earth. The Hayabusa2 accomplished its objective when a capsule from the space probe containing asteroid samples landed in the Australian desert at the end of last year. The actual Hayabusa2 capsule and the parachutes that completed the extraordinary 5.2 billion km journey will be exhibited for the first time in Fukuoka this December. All kinds of attractions have been lined up for the event.
