Daikozenji Temple has seen 1,300 years of history at the foot of Chigiriyama, a mountain said to be named after a wedding ceremony (chigiri = promise of wedding) of a god was held there. Following this tradition, the autumn light up at Daikozenji represents meeting the person you will love, deepening your bond with them and getting married. In July 2017 Daikozenji was designated the 115th Lover’s Sanctuary of Japan by NPO Area Activation Supporting Center for their “Lover’s Sanctuary Project”.
