Beach Rowing Sprint is a fun sport that doesn’t require exceptional athletic ability, making it accessible to most people. All you need are two things: a love for water and enthusiasm!
Contestants will start by running a short 25-meter dash to their SUP (Stand Up Paddle) rowing boat. From there, they will row straight out into the sea, circle around a buoy, and then return to the beach. Once back, they will jump off their SUP rowing boat and sprint another 25 meters to the finish line. Participants race two at a time, and the fastest to finish is declared the winner. The event is simple, fun, and as competitive as you choose to make it.
Our Beach Rowing Sprint event will take place in the stunning natural settings of Mishima Bay and Kashii Beach, which provide an ideal, safe, and accessible location for this event. The competition is perfect for both beginners and experienced rowers. We hope it will encourage local residents of Fukuoka, as well as international visitors, to experience and enjoy the fantastic Fukuoka coastline.
Tournament details
There will be two categories, beginner and general.
1. Running (outward): 25m run from the START point
2. Rowing
Beginner category. Turn at the buoy at the 100m mark (one turn)
General category. Turn at the buoys at 150, 50 and 150m (meters in turn)
3. Return: When you reach the shore, you sprint to the end line.
