This spring event promotes emergency evacuation education in the case of a natural disaster for foreigners living in Kasuga City, while taking advantage of the blossoming sakura trees. Along the “Cherry Blossom Sightseeing Walk”, you’ll be given information about emergency evacuation, including a guide through Kasuga’s evacuation sites. The walk begins from three separate start points at 9:00, Sakuragaoka Park, Izumi Park and Matsugaoka South Park, and the three groups will convene at 11:30 for a lunch and planting session. The event is organized by NPO Hoshino-Furusato and aims to bring people with common interests together to appreciate and to protect the beauty of the environment. All are welcome to join this walk event to learn or to be reminded that Kasuga is a beautiful and safe community to dwell. NPO Hoshino-Furusato formed after the heavy rainfall of July, 2012 which damaged areas of Kyushu, including Hoshino-mura in Yame City, and continues to organize activities to enhance bonds between the local communities and newcomers.
