Dance the Ifuku in Dazaifu

START: Apr 5, 2019 END: Apr 27, 2019

Dance the Ifuku (ダンス・ザ・イフク/太ンス宰府ク) is costume artist Kodue Hibino’s new exhibition which twins a fundamental questioning of the nature of clothing itself, and the performance of dancers clad in her designs. Some of the unique designs featured are, Kodue Hibino says, “Clothes that I have made. Clothes of bone, blood and bugs. One hundred helium balloons tied to a piece of seaweed, making it flow with each ebb and flow of the breeze. Clothes fluttering in the breeze of a fan.” The exhibition aims to force people to confront their concrete ideas of clothing as a set idea and strip back these layers of meaning to its foundation. But that’s not the only draw. Visitors won’t be able to take their eyes off the dancers as they move and flow while clad in unconventional designs. Check the website for details on other events and exhibits.
