Dazaifu Tenmangu Art Tour / 太宰府天満宮アートツアー

START: Jun 9, 2021 END: Jun 9, 2021

For this walk, I’ll be accompanied by Eri Anderson, Curator at the Dazaifu Tenmangu Cultural Research Institute. Dazaifu Tenmangu is easily one of the best-known and most often visited shrines in Fukuoka, but did you know it has long been an important center of the arts? Eri will show us and talk about the seven permanent artworks on the shrine’s precincts and an introduction to Sugawara Michizane, the deity of learning, culture, and arts to which this shrine is dedicated. And of course, no visit to Dazaifu is complete without tasting the favorite local sweet, “umegae mochi,” a dumpling filled with red bean paste! Join us live from 09:00 JST Wed., June 9 or watch later on Kyushu Live (YouTube)
