In case you were feeling sorry for sparkling wine, what with all the beer festivals and beer gardens flooding the city, Festa di Spumante is here. A staggering total of 43 sparkling wines will be flown into Fukuoka from Italy, France, Spain, Argentina, Portugal, Australia, Chile, Germany and South Africa. Non-sparkling wine will also get its share of the limelight, with nine different types coming from Chile and France. For those who aren’t a big fan of grape-based beverages, why not try Suntory’s Premium Malts, a Jim Beam highball, or some soft drinks? There’ll also be plenty of international food, with popular Italian deli Gashiyo, French eatery Mistrot Mitsou, Spanish joints Trene and Cafe Sones, and three different Japanese restaurants serving up worldly treats. Entertainment will take the form of DJs, dance performances and projection mapping (projecting images and animations onto surfaces). Entrance is free, but to drink anything you’ll need a starter kit: this includes your-own glass to take home and ten drink tickets (drinks can only be purchased with drink tickets), but if you return another day, you can bring the same glass and just buy more tickets.
