Hakushu Festival Suijo Parade

This festival is dedicated to the Yanagawa-born tanka poet and children’s songwriter, Hakushu Kitahara (1885-1942). Around 60 boats decorated with lanterns float down the canals of Yanagawa at night, with performances played out on riverside stages. For the event’s finale, fireworks light up the night sky.
