Don’t miss this chance to see traditional sweets at their most experimental! Honwakashu is a group of wakadanna (young masters) of traditional wagashi (Japanese sweet) shops aiming to bring more energy, fun and experimentation to the world of Japanese confectionery. Using traditional techniques, they craft previously unseen wagashi. Approximately ten shops will be participating, including shops from as far as Kyoto, Mie and Gifu Prefecture. Pictured in the second photo is Mizu no Iro (¥1,080 for 10 pieces), sweets crafted to be so thin that they look like water drops. 23 different kinds of sweets will be exhibited and sold, and the wakadanna themselves will be at the venue in traditional attire.
