Umaimono means “delicious things”, and those will certainly be in abundance at this foodie fair! Hakata Hankyu is launching this event, also called “Haruno Senbatsu” (Spring Selection), to celebrate the department store’s fifth anniversary. Sellers are coming from across Japan for the fair, including Menya Kotetsu from Hokkaido, which will be selling its Jyukusei Ara Miso Ramen (¥780), and Kagawa’s own Hinode Seimenjo, which will offer up Ebitama Bukkake Udon (shrimp and egg tempura with udon, ¥981). There will also be a selection of very special bento boxes, like the Aso-ou Akaushi Bento (¥1,620) from Aso Torty Kitchen; this bento uses Kumamoto’s famous Aso-ou beef. Got room for dessert? How about some frozen yogurt topped with fresh fruits from Nagano’s Karuizawa Googies Berry (¥551)? There will also be special products available which commemorate Hakata Hankyu’s fifth anniversary.
