The annual Sakura Festival takes place at Hōmangu Kamado Shrine, located at the foot of Mt. Hōman—an iconic peak of Dazaifu. Known as a shrine for matchmaking, it is also a popular cherry blossom viewing spot, with around 200 sakura trees blooming across the grounds.
During the festival, stalls sell kashiwa gohan (chicken rice), seasonal wagashi sweets, cheesecake, and coffee. Mini concerts are held on the shrine grounds at 10:00, 13:00, and 15:00, offering live music in a spring setting. From Mar 23, special evening prayer services begin, and illuminated night blossoms add another highlight to the event.
