Six Kyushu sightseeing trains will meet on March 22 at 1 p.m. at JR Hitoyoshi Station in Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture as part of a wider sightseeing train summit to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the steam locomotive Hitoyoshi. In tandem with this meeting of sightseeing cars, of which two are rarely seen at this station, part of the track between JR Hakata Station and JR Hitoyoshi will be closed to accommodate sightseeing tours organized by JR Kyushu and a number of travel agencies. The first course (7J003) will be from JR Hakata to JR Hitoyoshi on 22nd and will cost ¥16,000. The second course (7J004) will be from JR Hitoyoshi to JR Hakata on 22nd and will cost ¥14,000. The tickets for these tours will be on sale from 2/6 (Wed.), so be sure to snap them up quickly! Also make sure not to miss the stamp rallies and goods sold at the summit, as well as the opening up of the stonework roundhouse (dating from 1911!) near Hitoyoshi station on the 23rd.
