START: Aug 11, 2013 END: Aug 11, 2013

The US Consulate Fukuoka is co-hosting a film screening and discussion session on Sunday, August 11 at the Fukuoka American Center in Tenjin. The film is “Milk”, the story of Harvey Milk, and his struggles as an American gay activist who fought for gay rights and became California’s first openly gay elected official. It will be screened in English with Japanese subtitles. After screening the film, there’s a LGBT panel talk session (15:30~), in which panelists will share their experiences of coming out. By listening to their stories & through discussion, the audience is encouraged to consider how they can personally take positive action and support the LGBT community.
