‘Nagarenna’ is set in a small port village. Two daughters of a local diner owner join a project to revitalize the village by putting life back into its local clam business. The older sister suffered a great personal trauma when she was younger after discovering the body of her dead mother in the toilet. The other has no memory of her mother at all. The two sisters couldn’t be more different and they never agree on anything.
iaku’s previous show ‘Edaniku’ was snappy and hilarious, even for a Japanese beginner. While this performance takes a darker turn, it ought to be worth checking out.
